Originally, the crowbars, were made with roasted and ground corn and mixed with honey. Later, more seeds began to be used and today the most popular is with peanut. Although, in Coahuila and Nuevo León walnut crowbars are also typical. While in regions of Oaxaca they add a little toasted sesame.
In addition, they are a nutritious and very filling dessert. For this reason, today we will tell you how to prepare your own palanquetas. Because, believe it or not, it is very easy.
The ingredients you need are:
½ cup of water
¼ cup honey
1 cup of piloncillo
50 grams of butter
2 cups fresh peanuts, shelled and roasted

Prepare your palanquetas
First, put water in a pot and mix it with the honey and the brown sugar. Let it heat and stir to dissolve the ingredients until they form a syrup. Here we recommend using a wooden spoon so that it does not stick. When it starts to boil. Add the peanuts and butter, stirring constantly. Don’t leave the syrup on the fire too long because it could burn and give a bitter taste.
Once the peanuts are well integrated into the syrup, it is time to remove from the heat. Then, on a tray place a wax paper and empty the mixture. Then put more waxed paper on top and finish flattening them with a spatula. Now put the tray in the refrigerator and wait for them to harden.
Finally, cut with a damp knife and shape the crowbars into any shape you like.
