Many Americans have an immense love for Mexico despite the relationship between the two nations right now. Such is the case of the American Dylan Ence, who wanted to support a school in Michoacán by donating a bus and school supplies.
Dylan is a student in Utah, United States, but four years ago he visited the Patamban community in Morelia, Michoacán. He was immediately moved as he saw the conditions of the students, as they did not have enough school supplies.
Some students even stayed at school to avoid having to walk home for several hours. So the 19-year-old American wanted to do something about it and put together a plan to support them.
“When I saw those children, I just wanted to help them. I felt like, why does the United States have to be superior and have all these good things? Why can’t we provide them with some of our beautiful things so they can have them too? ”

The arrival of the bus to Patamban Michoacán
From that day on, for four years, he began to raise funds to buy a school bus. Finally, he got it last December and together with his family he sent it to Mexico.
Despite the difficulties, and knowing that it was dangerous to travel to Patamban, Michoacán even more, being an American, he accomplished his mission.
Dylan and his mother traveled to Guadalajara, from where they took the bus to the Morelia community. It was not easy, since they did not have the support of the Mexican Government and they took care of all the expenses. In addition, they had to wait 10 hours at the border for the school bus to pass.
After all the effort and money spent, the truck arrived on February 8 at the Patamban school. In addition, he managed to raise money to buy school supplies of all kinds for the students.
The American hero
Through his Twitter account, the ambassador, Christopher Landau shared the story. And the young man’s mother gave more details about it.
Dylan Ence visited schools in Patamban giving school supplies and money to the Catholic school for a new gymnasium floor. Now he has the mission to collect basketballs and equipment for the gym,” added the lady.
As if that were not enough, Dylan and his family will pay seven students at the school their primary education. This American showed a heroic and deeply fraternal gesture towards many Mexican children and youth who want to continue their studies.
