A 680-meter pathway from the Archaeological Zone of Monte Albán has been inaugurated. This will make an easier access for people with disabilities and elderly who want to enjoy this site. With this, the archaeological zone becomes the first that will provide inclusion and easy mobilization nationwide.
All of this happened within the framework of the International Day of People with Disabilities (December 3rd). And, in the inauguration, Oaxaca’s governor, Alejandro Murat Hinojosa participated. As well, as the honorary president of the State’s System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF), Ivette Morán de Murat.

Constructions to facilitate access
To improve the accessibility of the zone, 3.5 million pesos were invested. On the one hand, they rehabilitated access to the entrance to the main square of the area. Also, adapted the infrastructure with ramps in the area of ‘Ball Game’ and in the Museum.
In addition, two carts and four electric chairs were delivered to move the people around the area. On the other hand, the governor announced the termination of a perimeter fence that will protect this Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Monte Albán for everyone
The governor highlighted that the purpose of these jobs is for Monte Albán to be an inclusive area. Which led them to develop the project “Enabling access for people with motor disabilities.” Likewise, it was derived from the “Monte Albán Accesible” workshop, which was attended by specialists and staff of the Oaxaca DIF
What this Management Plan of the Archaeological Zone of Monte Alban is looking for is the conservation of such an important heritage. At the same time, it aims to promote mechanisms for research and dissemination of the site.
With these actions, Monte Albán will be more accessible to all. And, more people will know all its mysteries and treasures.
