The flavor of Oaxaca in Oaxacanita Chocolate
Oaxacanita started in 2013. But it was not until 2015 when they officially started the project. The creative minds behind all of this are Mexicans Germán Santillán, Ruth Valadares and Sergio Santillán. It all started with 10 kilos of cocoa. Which were roasted, ground and processed by themselves.
This is how they began to sell their Mexican and artisan products, and their first clients were their relatives. So far, the project is creating an economic, social and even environmental impact in the Mixtec region.
Mexican chocolate undertaking
Thanks to Oaxacanita Chocolate, it is possible to create direct and indirect jobs, from the cocoa farmers who are responsible for the cultivation of cocoa. Even for traditional cooks and artisans.
What Oaxacanita is looking for is to make an economic impact on the artisan’s life and to turn cocoa into a source of income for the families of the community.
According to the company’s statistics, the project achieved 200% growth in 2017, thus benefiting 26 families. Thanks to this, Oaxacanita Chocolate reached places like the State of Mexico, León, Mérida, Mexico City and other regions of Oaxaca.
Even during 2016, they were chosen as one of the best social entrepreneurship projects in Latin America and the Caribbean by the ‘Young Leaders of the American Initiative’.
Let us remember that the main cocoa producers are Tabasco -with designation of origin-, Chiapas, Yucatan, Campeche and Oaxaca. If you want to support this Mexican product, you can find it on the official pages of Oaxacanita Chocolate. Prices are affordable and the taste is unbelievable.
